Barney Frank: People Are Blaming Me For the Subprime Crisis Because I'm Gay, and Not Because I Blocked Reform and Determined We Should "Roll the Dice in Favor of Affordable Housing"

I'm gay. Of course I couldn't possibly be to blame.

Frank yesterday dismissed McCain's words as "an appeal to prejudice" that he said reminded him of past Republican efforts to raise voter concerns about the prospect of congressmen Charles Rangel and John Conyers, who are black, becoming committee chairs.

"I'm flattered by this," said Frank, who is gay. "But I don't think I'm the single most important member of the House after Nancy Pelosi. There are also a lot of straight white men who are committee chairmen."

Not only that, he's claiming he's actually led the attempts to reform the supbrime market.

His "reform" consisted entirely of his idee fixe -- limiting pay for CEOs.

Here are some of Barney Frank's -- and his Democratic friends' -- attempts at "reform."

"This hearing is about the political lynching of Franklin Raines."

Well. If Barney Frank isn't accusing people of homophobia, his allies on the committee are accusing people of racism.

And ACORN... Racist.

You Know Who's Not Homophobic? The financial industry, Barney Frank's top source of money in 2008.
